What The Trees Teach Us About Letting Go

The trees know something we forget every year. When Fall strolls in, they don't panic or make lists or overthink it - they just let go. They trust the rhythm. They even look taller when they're bare.
Fall has a way of showing us what we've been hanging on to a little too tightly; an old plan that doesn't fit anymore. A "Yes" committed to out of pressure. A half-baked dream we still pretend might rise if we just give it one more stir.
"What can I set down? At least for now."
I've been practicing small releases; saying no without apologizing, letting the laundry sit another day (the world survived! Yay!), and breathing before rushing to fill the silence. It's not dramatic - just gentle adjustments. Tiny pauses that make room for new thoughts to flourish.
Fall also reminds me that rest isn't laziness, and letting go isn't giving up. It is how nature resets and maybe we need it too - a quiet, beautiful, uncluttering before the year rushes to the finish line.
So as the leaves fall, I ask myself, "What can I set down, at least for now." Maybe you are wondering that too.
Warmly,
