A Slow Saturday Morning — Lox & Laughter

Updated: Nov 3

Some mornings feel like a deep exhale. The kind that start with no alarm, no hurry — just the slow hum of a kettle and sunlight sneaking across the kitchen table.

My friend came to visit this weekend, one of those friendships where you pick up exactly where you left off, even if months have gone by. We brewed coffee that took its sweet time, and I decided we deserved a breakfast that did too

It was the perfect opportunity to pull out my favorite vintage crystal snack tray to plate my version of a smorgasbord: toasted bagels, a scoop of cream cheese, bright lemon wedges, slices of smoked salmon, avocado, red onion, and capers rolling around like little beads of salt and sunshine.

We lingered, assembling bites and stories in equal measure. here’s something about sharing food like this — side by side, reaching for color and flavor — that makes you appreciate old fashion hospitality. It isn’t about matching dishes or perfect timing. It’s about setting the table with intention, even if it’s just for two..

We didn’t solve the world’s problems, but we solved the question of what to do with a quiet Saturday: Eat slowly. Talk honestly. Refill coffee. Repeat.

If you’d like to make your mornings feel a little fancy, I’ve listed a few pairs in the shop:👉 Vintage Crystal 5-Section Snack Trays — Set of 2. Each piece has five sections — two smaller sides, one full middle — perfect for separating toppings, fruit, or little breakfast extras. The glass sparkles beautifully under natural light (or candlelight). They’re perfect for bagel spreads, afternoon nibbles, or movie-night snacks — the kind of pretty, practical pieces that make you slow down and stay a while.

Maybe that’s enough.
